Description

Manipuri is one of India s six major classical dances and is native to the picturesque state of Manipur, in the North-East of India. It is mainly known for its lyrical and graceful movements, beautiful costumes, and Hindu Vaishnavism themes, with performances of the love-inspired dance drama of Radha-Krishna called Raslila being the most popular. Legends say that the inhabitants of Manipur are originally Gandharvas –the celestial singers and dancers.
